FOSTERS ARE THE CORE OF THIS RESCUE.....
CONTACT US IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FOSTER, WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES!

What is Fostering

Fostering a dog means bringing the dog into your own home for a period of time to offer a safe environment with lots of love, understanding and training. During this time you will also be assessing the dog to find out what kind of permanent home would be best for them. Your responsibility as a fosterer will be to assess the dog’s ability to cope with everyday family life and situations. The dog may be nervous or may have never lived inside a home before. He or she may have limited house-training, no basic training skills. and may not have been exposed to other dogs, cats, kids, etc.....

We value your input!!!!  Dogs in foster homes have a better chance of finding a permanent home because we can learn more about their needs and with your help we can make sure that the right home is found for your foster dog.

A fosterer provides all the daily needs for the dog, as if it were their own: feeding, walks, training and affection.

A dog may be with a foster  for a short time or for a few weeks or months. The time period will depend on how soon the dog is evaluated, when it has been determined that your foster dog is ready for a new home and whether there is an approved application from a home that is suitable for your foster dog.

North Coast Doberman rescue covers all veterinarian costs for your foster dog.  We do ask that you are able to transport your dog to scheduled vet appointments, adoption events and to meet potential adopters.  At this time North Coast Doberman Rescue is unable to cover the cost of food for our foster dogs but we can give you a receipt for all the expenses you have incurred from your foster and you can get a tax deduction.

It is a wonderful experience to watch a dog develop and grow in confidence, to learn to trust, to regain health and to learn those essential skills of socialization and training. And isn't it amazing that it is the foster home  that makes all this happen????
